The department’s home is in Memorial Hall, containing faculty offices, student research rooms, and a classroom. In nearby Brown Hall, a teaching laboratory is equipped for water quality analysis.
In addition, the environmental studies department runs its own “Ecological Sustainability Landscape.” On this property, containing a large farmhouse and over 100 acres, students and faculty undertake experimental projects to design and test the feasibility of various ideas for promoting sustainablity.
The University’s collection of environmental resources in Owen D. Young library is extraordinary for an undergraduate college. The program’s own two 15-passenger vans transport students and faculty on field trips and research projects.
